What are the methods for forging the blank of the ball valve ball body?

The ball valve ball body is used to control the flow state of the fluid in the fluid transportation pipeline. Due to its simple structure, convenient installation and maintenance, good sealing performance, no internal leakage, and small size, it is highly favored by market users. The forging processing methods for the ball body of different ball valves are different. So, what are the specific processes of ball body forging processing?
1. According to the temperature during the forging of the spherical blank
(1) Hot forging: The process of heating the raw material to a certain temperature and then conducting forging is called hot forging.
(2) Cold forging: When a billet is forged at room temperature, it is called cold forging. The forging equipment required for cold forging has a large tonnage. Cold forging can produce forgings with higher precision, greater strength, and a smoother surface.
(3) Warm forging: The heating temperature of the billet is lower than that in hot forging. The equipment required for this process has a smaller tonnage compared to cold forging. It can produce higher strength and coarser surface parts, and is a new process currently in the development stage.
2. According to the force acting on the spherical blank
(1) Hand forging processing: Using hand forging tools and manual strikes, the raw material is hammered on an anvil to shape it into the desired form of a forging piece.
(2) Machine forging: Using forging tools on various forging equipment, the blank material is transformed into a forging piece. Machine forging is classified into four types based on the equipment and tools used: free forging, model forging, shell forging, and special forging.
Free forging: It involves heating the metal billet to a certain temperature and then placing it between the upper and lower anvils of the free forging equipment for forging. The operator controls the deformation of the metal to obtain the desired shape of the forging piece.
② Model forging: Also known as die forging. It is a production method where the heated metal billet is placed into the mold cavity fixed on the die forging equipment for forging, and its deformation is restricted, thereby obtaining a forged piece that is consistent with the mold cavity.
③ Tissue membrane forging: abbreviated as tissue membrane forging. It is a deformation method that lies between free forging and die forging. The metal billet heated to a certain temperature is shaped into a formed forging piece through the use of a tissue membrane that is not fixed to the free forging equipment.
④ Special Forging: It is a forging process method in which the metal billet is shaped on dedicated equipment or in special molds. Examples include precision forging, roll forging, ring rolling, helical slitting, transverse rolling, and extrusion forming, etc.
